Overview[]

Arcane Government

The Arcane Government (A.G.) is essentially the police organization in the Arcane world, consisting of a diverse group of wizards and fighters. Their main objectives are to hunt down criminals, protect the innocent, and enforce order on the seas.

Their headquarters is located in the Fifth Sea, and are led by the Shockwave Curse user, Valencia, who is rarely seen going into battle herself. Secretly, the A.G. are controlled by a group known as the Grand Table from the shadows, which consists of four Curse users who have survived the aftermath of Durza's attack which is said to have wiped out 80% of the global population.

Joining[]

The player can join the Arcane Government as a clan member by talking to the A.G. Recruiter at any of the three A.G. bases. In the First and Second Sea, a Recruiter can be found in Outcast Tower and Freedom Lookout respectively. The A.G. do not have a building in the Third Sea as it is largely controlled by the One Shot Pirates, only a small camp exists on one of the wilderness islands near the Third-First Sea border, the Recruiter is on the docked A.G. frigate next to the island.

The requirements needed in order to join the Arcane Government include:

  • A minimum level of at least level 40
  • A reputation not lower than 160 (neutral)
  • Not already be in clan

Having a reputation below neutral will cause you to be kicked out of the A.G.

Effects[]

Upon joining, the player starts off as a Soldier, with all of their armor and accessories replaced with standard soldier clothing: a white tank top, long blue jeans, a blue scarf, and an A.G. branded cap. Any equipped weapons, hair, and facial expression stays the same. Armor and accessories that are worn will still grant their stats. The player's original ship colors will be stripped and replaced with the signature navy blue and white color scheme. Upon joining a game, members will spawn at the A.G. base associated with the Sea they spawn in by default.

As an A.G. member, the player loses the ability to hunt bounties. However, when defeating any negative reputation player, the defeated player will be sent to jail in which they will have to serve time (1-5 minutes depending on the nature of the arrest). The captor will receive a scalable amount of A.G.R. (Arcane Government Respect) which would count toward promotion and some Lamina. The amount of A.G.R. gained depends on the of bounty and level of the captured player, with the minimal amount you can gain being 1 A.G.R. per capture and maximum being 10 A.G.R. per capture.

Promotion[]

New recruits start out as soldiers, rank-ups are rewarded based on how much A.G.R. players have earned. Ranking up will change the default uniform of the player upon spawning.

When a player reaches the rank of Lance Corporal the player's accessories and headwear will no longer be concealed due to the removal of the A.G. soldier hat as part of the uniform.

NPCs[]

Standard A.G. soldiers appear as guards at Freedom Lookout, Outcast Tower, and the A.G. Camp in the Third Sea. In Freedom Lookout, Corporals also appear guarding the entrance to the tower. They also appear as mobs on ships, similar to pirates. They cannot harm players with a positive reputation and vice-versa (including members of the A.G.). Killing NPC soldiers will result in a decrease in a player's reputation, but will not not raise their bounty. If a player's reputation level is below that of neutral, all A.G. NPCs will become hostile. When killed by an A.G. NPC, the player will be brought to jail, lowering 20% of their bounty and half of their on-hand Lamina.

Agsoldiersalute

A.G. NPCs stationed on respective sea outposts will enter a unique animation, saluting higher ranking A.G. player-characters that approach them.

Notable high-ranked A.G. NPCs include the members in-charge of Freedom Lookout and Outcast Tower in the First and Second Seas. They are:

  • Lance Corporal Barron of Outcast Tower, uses Light Magic. He is level 110 with 950 HP.
  • Lieutenant Ulysses of Freedom Lookout, uses Earth Magic. He is level 300 with 2,200 HP.

Jail[]

One way or another, players will end up in jail, in which they will be stuck in a jail cell significantly stripped of their bounty and Lamina, and lose the ability to perform any meaningful action beyond high-jumping, accessing the menu, using emotes, and talking to NPCs. The jail time may be extended depending on the bounty or act.

Some ways one may become jailed are:

  • Combat logging, usually when leaving in the middle of, or a brief moment after, fights.
  • Dying from being bounty hunted.
  • Dying from an A.G. player at negative-reputation.
  • Turning yourself in. (This puts you in jail for longer, but removes your bounty)

At the end of the jail time, a hint box will notify the player and they will promptly be teleported to the closest wilderness island to the prison tower; this is the Ice Maze Island for the First Sea, Trinity Oasis for the Second Sea, and Redwood Island for the Third Sea. From here, the player is able to dock a boat to sail. Players who combat logged at a neutral or higher reputation will have their reputation lowered.

When imprisoned, another player is able to break prisoners out. Doing so requires defeating the captain of the prison tower, then proceeding into the jail room and tapping a red button that opens every cell, freeing the imprisoned player. An exception to this is the jail island in the Third Sea, where the red button may be pressed without defeating a captain. Note that if you are an A.G. member and you click the red button, you'll instantly get kicked out of the A.G., and your reputation will immediately fall to Villain; causing the A.G. Soldiers to attack you. If you are not in the A.G., your reputation(if friendly or higher) will fall to neutral.

PrisonerOrange

One of the prisoners in Outcast Tower.

In the First Sea, there are two prisoner NPCs that may share a cell with the player when jailed. Upon interaction, the player may ask "What are you in for?"

  • One prisoner is dressed in an orange-clad outfit with a peg leg. When asked the question he replies "Everything."
  • The other prisoner wears an eye-patch, purple tank top, and a pirate leg. When asked the question, he states that he was part of Averill's crew, but was captured by the A.G. He also mentions that he is relieved that he was the only one that was captured.

Trivia[]

  • The music on both Freedom Lookout and Outcast Tower is taken from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
  • Much like in the lore of the game, negative reputation players and A.G. members are constantly at war with one another.
  • The Arcane Government are likely based off of the Marines from One Piece, similarities include the signature navy blue and white color scheme and the standard issue caps with a logo for lower ranking members.
  • Lieutenant Ulysses along with Kraken, Verdies, and Arthur, the Cursebeard are one of the last few Vastus descendants alive, an extinct race of giants who were killed off by Durza's combined attack.
    • However, after being promoted to captain, he'd lose his life to Chaos.[1]
  • Lance Corporal Barron of Outcast Tower (1st sea) has a power level of 19,500.
  • Lieutenant Ulysses of Freedom Lookout (2nd sea) has a power level of 45,360.
  • When an island captured by a A.G player, it will say "Protected" instead of "Captured".
  • A.G. NPCs appearing in respective sea outposts will salute A.G. player characters of higher rank then themselves.
  • A.G. NPCs that spawn on boats will salute you regardless of rank while not operating a cannon or the ship's steering wheel.
